Art + Activism: Garment Workers

SPARC welcomed fifty parents and children from the Garment Worker Center and IDEPSCA’s Mujeres en Accion on May 25th, 2019 to discuss how arts activism is a key part of campaigns and movements for social change. After a talk by SPARC Executive Director, families worked with printmaker Kay Brown to create monoprint signs with messages advocating for justice and speaking about current campaigns like #PayUpRoss. SPARC has collaborated with the Garment Worker Center and IDEPSCA in the past to support workers and day laborers in Los Angeles, and we are honored to have hosted both organizations at SPARC for the first time through the UCLA Labor Center.
