Día de los Muertos 2024
November 3, 2024 @ 5:30 PM - 8:30 PM PST
Free
We invite you to SPARC’s 22nd annual Día de los Muertos celebration on Sunday, November 3, at SPARC in Venice! Following our tradition, the event, led by UCLA Professor Martha Ramirez-Oropeza and with the participation of over 197 of her students, will be a vibrant and heartfelt tribute to our ancestors and loved ones.
The evening will begin with a traditional invocation ritual at sunset, conducted in Nahuatl, Spanish, and English, honoring the rich cultural heritage of this sacred day. One of the event’s most meaningful traditions is the building of a community altar, and we invite everyone to participate by bringing photos of the people you wish to honor. You can take these photos home at the end of the event.
Adding to the festivities, we will have Aztec dancers, and attendees can enjoy delicious traditional Oaxacan tamales and tacos from Teddy’s Red Tacos, available for purchase throughout the event.
Come be part of this special day, where we gather as a community to celebrate life, memory, and tradition!
