The Patchwork Healing Circle

Create a patchwork that speaks out against gender-based violence and the destruction of Mother Earth for The Patchwork Healing Blanket, an ongoing project that currently includes 600 patchworks by women and children from 10 countries. The Patchwork Healing Blanket is currently on view through a virtual exhibition presented by SPARC. Join textile artists from The Patchwork Healing Blanket to learn about the techniques and stories embedded in each of their patchworks as you begin to create your own. You can send your physical patchwork to be sewn into healing blankets alongside hundreds of textile pieces from across the world.

The Patchwork Healing Circle on Zoom will be led by Founder/Curator of The Patchwork Healing Blanket, Marietta Bernstorff, and artists Jimena Cancino, Maxine Foster, Yolanda Guerra, Jennie Johnston and Christy Klim.

Bring the following materials to the virtual Patchwork Healing Circle:

• 27 inch x 27 inch piece of cotton cloth
• Recycled Pieces of Cloth
• Scissors
• Needle
• Thread
• Pencil

You can use your preferred materials and methods to create a patchwork! If you are a painter, printmaker, or work in another visual arts discipline, bring the materials that you would like to create a patchwork with.
