Remembering Jim Prigoff (1927-2021)

Today, we honor the memory of Jim Prigoff, a prolific photographer and author who documented murals and street art in the U.S. and abroad for over 40 years. His extensive work has helped to define the landscape of public art, tracing the art form across generations and geographies. Jim was a part of the SPARC family for over 25 years. During his tenure on our Board of Directors, Jim shared with us a keen passion for social justice and its intricate relationship with public art. We remember Jim not only for his iconic work on public art, but also for the moments of joy, laughter, and community that we shared with him in our artistic home at The Old Venice Jail.
