Dia De Los Muetros 2021
October 30, 2019 @ 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM PDT
Venice, CA, October 30th, 2021 –
Join SPARC on Saturday, October 29th for our 19th annual every year to honor the memories of those who have passed on. Guests are invited to contribute to our community altar that represents Día de los Muertos traditions from regions across Mexico and Central America. Professor Ramirez-Oropeza will lead an invocation ritual in Nahuatl, Spanish and English that calls the spirits to join the celebration, followed by a brief question and answer session. Join us for a workshop led by Candy Angel. Be a part of our ceremony by bringing a photograph of a loved one for our community altar created by our team at SPARC.
Support local vendors and stay warm the entire night with hot chocolate and Oaxacan treats just outside of SPARC. After the ritual SPARC will be open late for a timed-entry talk with Martha Ramirez-Oropeza on the significance of the Dia de los Muertos ritual. The Durón Gallery will also be available for visitation, featuring artworks by artist and SPARC co-founder Judith F. Baca. Upon arrival, visit our check-in table to receive your color-coded wristband and entry time.
All COVID policies will be in place. Guests must bring masks and proof of Vaccination (for all adults).
