2024 has been monumental for SPARC
Dear friends of SPARC,
As the year comes to a close, we at the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for your continued support. Your belief in our mission to create, preserve, and celebrate public art that tells our stories and uplifts our communities is what keeps us going.
2024 has been monumental for SPARC:
The Great Wall Bridge installed!
The installation of the pedestrian bridge at the Great Wall of Los Angeles happened this year, connecting communities and enhancing access to this historic monument.
New gallery-production space in Santa Monica!
We opened the SPARC Gallery at Bergamot Station, providing a new production space and training for our Great Wall artists.
The Great Wall of Los Angeles is advancing!
We completed over 2,060 square feet of the Great Wall mural.
Outdoor mural exhibitions!
We launched two open art call for artists to respond to the election, one prior to the election & one post election.
More tours to the Great Wall!
We expanded educational opportunities providing more than 20 tours of the Great Wall of Los Angeles and our galleries in Venice and Bergamot Station serving over 950 students and community groups.
More workshops and events!
We hosted free weekend workshops and events, creating spaces for creativity, learning, and connection. And together, we celebrated a vibrant and successful Día de Los Muertos event at our Venice headquarters bringing together more than 500 community members.
All of this was made possible because of supporters like you. But as we reflect on these accomplishments, we are also looking ahead to what lies before us. The next chapter of the Great Wall of Los Angeles is within reach, but we need your help to bring this transformative work to fruition. This expansion is not just an artistic endeavor; it’s a vital act of storytelling, ensuring the diverse histories of our communities are preserved and celebrated for generations to come.
