SPARC Announces the Acquisition of the Prigoff Collection

Dear friends of SPARC,

We are very excited to announce that SPARC has been honored to receive the esteemed Prigoff Collection as a gift, a momentous addition that celebrates our ongoing mission to preserve and uplift the power of public art and that enhances our ongoing archival efforts through the SPARC Archives.

The Prigoff Collection is a remarkable archive that reflects the life and work of James Prigoff, a renowned photographer, author, and cultural historian. For decades, Prigoff passionately documented murals, street art, and public art from around the world, capturing the spirit of diverse communities and social movements. His work not only preserves the artistry of public expression but also tells the stories of the people and cultures behind it.

This collection is more than an archive; it is a testament to the enduring power of art as a tool for social change. By welcoming the Prigoff Collection into SPARC’s care, we are committed to ensuring that these invaluable records continue to inspire generations to come.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Prigoff family for entrusting SPARC with this extraordinary gift. Together, let us honor James Prigoff’s legacy by continuing to celebrate and amplify the voices of communities through the beauty and power of public art.

There’s still time to make a difference! Consider donating to SPARC to support the SPARC Archive and all our transformative programs.
